Project Background

A metro construction programme in the Middle East required fire rated cable trays for the emergency power and life-safety circuits running through its underground tunnels. The Challenge

In a tunnel fire, emergency lighting, ventilation and communication systems must keep running to allow safe evacuation. The cable trays supporting those circuits therefore have to resist flame and heat for a defined period, while still being corrosion resistant enough to survive the tunnel's daily humidity. The contractor also needed consistent quality across a large volume of trays delivered over many months.

Our Solution

We supplied Grade A fireproof, non-combustible cable trays with hot-dip galvanized steel bodies and fire-resistant sealing accessories. Ladder type trays were used for heavy power circuits, while solid bottom trays protected sensitive control cables.

Quality Control

Each production batch was inspected for coating thickness, dimensions and material grade, with documentation provided to support the contractor's submittals and inspections.
